∎ Cansat Camp & Competition Korea

The KAIST Satellite Technology Research Center conducts the Cansat Camp and Competition each year to provide students from elementary to college levels with the opportunity to participate in satellite development. Cansat Camp and Competition Korea aims to expand the foundations for space science and raise public interest in the field.

Cansat Camp and Competition Korea is organized by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and supervised by the KAIST Satellite Technology Research Center. It began with a trial in 2012 and has since been carried out successfully each year to great response from interested students.

What is a Cansat Competition?
Teams in Cansat competitions make simple educational satellites the size of beverage cans (CanSat) and launch them using science rockets or instruments. The CanSats are released several hundred meters above ground and have to perform designated missions during free fall.

Elementary and middle school students can participate in the 2-day CanSat experience camp to learn the science and conduct CanSat dropping experiments. High school and university students can participate in the competition where they build their own CanSats and perform designated missions.
